New 7'2 Mini Mal

I so want to keep this one for my self, it's a beautiful looking board.  Ah well never mind!

A Busy Workshop

The shed's definitely getting too small!  The two on the wall are waiting to be glassed, the board on the stand has just had the bottom laminated.  Fingers crossed the new workshop all works out.

Ready For The Shop

This is the first board I've shaped to go in a shop.  Should be in Saltburn Surf Shop with Gary on Saturday. If your interested in it get your self down the beach and have a look.

Martin's Big Fish

Martin's fish all finished! After some contemplation Zoee Smith decided she was brave enough to do the artwork on the board and made an awesome job of it. I'm sure if anybody's interested you could twist her arm to put some art on your board too.

A Pair of Fish

2 fish I've been working on are just about ready for glassing.  The blue one's 6' x 21" x 2 1/2" with a stepped deck, the white is 6' x 19 1/2" x 2 1/2".

Winged Quad Fish

My new board finished and ready to be surfed, just keeping my fingers crossed for some waves this weekend.

As usual with the boards I do for myself, it was a bit rushed and I forgot to sign it or put any dimensions on it. It's 6'2" down the stringer x 20" x 2 3/4.

I decided to experiment with using carbon fibre and discovered that it's quite tricky stuff.  I sandwiched it between 2 sheets of glass but when I started wetting it out it started to spread as you can see from the photo.

Went with a Futures quad setup.  Still finding it tricky getting all the air bubbles out when glassing the Futures boxes in though.

Josh's New Stick - Part 4 - The Paint Job

There was lots of umming and ahhing about this design, initially it was going to be very complex and not just complex to paint but mathematically complex.  Anyway Dave (Josh's dad) did all the hard work of creating the stencils and managed to simplify things a bit.  Still took a lot of time getting them held in place though...

There were a couple of little issues due to changing stencils over and I might need to do a little bit more yet but overall I think it looks pretty good!

Board 8 - Winged Quad Fish

So... whilst waiting for the stencil for the art work on Josh's board I made a start on my own new board.  It started out with a 6'4" Simon Noble Surfboards Stencil but after cutting it out I wasn't keen on the nose.  I used the rocket template to shape a new nose chopping the board down to 6'2".  I wanted this one to have plenty of volume so I'm making it 2 3/4" with full rails.

Josh's New Stick - Part 3

The rails have been shaped now so just a bit of polishing to be done before installing the fin boxes.
